Far, Far Away

At some point in our lives, maybe in the last thirty minutes, maybe even right now, we wished we were someplace else. I myself can absolutely confirm that I am wishing for this even as I write this post. Now there can be different reasons for why we want something like that. You know, could be the desire to get away or looking for an escape, it can even just be the opportunity to experience new environments outside of what we’re used to.
Whatever the reasoning is, traveling somewhere far away doesn’t sound too bad right about now. A change of scenery does wonders for the soul, I believe. Sadly, I haven’t traveled to many places outside of my home, something I endeavor to change soon. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with traveling around one's home either! It’s fun when you discover nooks and gems where you live that you didn’t know about before.

Even so, the feeling of wanting to explore more outside of home is still there. I’m not sure if it’s the same for any of you, but I practically live in my daydreams. I spend a good portion of my day imagining I’m lounging in a hobbit hole by the water in New Zealand. It’s also part of the reason I love reading so much. It’s so easy to bury yourself in a world created by awesome writers.
However, I am beginning to see there is a danger to that as well. Calling it a danger might be a bit extreme, but living in your daydreams isn’t exactly the best way to go. It feels amazing for that moment, but it can also rapidly become a comfortable distraction. Those can be almost detrimental because you so easily forget about the life you currently have. So instead of getting lost in daydreams, perhaps we should work hard to manifest them in everyday life! I’m going to try my best to do just that and I hope you do too!
