I have always been a fanatic for music, my family can attest to that. Ever since I was little I would sing along to almost every musical, music video, or cassette tape. Do you guys remember cassette tapes? Ah, the good old days. Basically, if there were lyrics to it, there was a 99.9999% chance I was singing them.

When it comes to music, I pick up things fairly quickly, so you can imagine how loud my childhood was. The good news is I haven’t changed, I’m still loud! What? Were you looking for some bad news too? Shame on you, I have no such thing! Well, my siblings, particularly my sister, might complain that the volume has increased over the years….but that’s still good news! It shows growth, and growth is vital, people.
Anyway, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to learn more about how I respond to different music. Taking into consideration that I am a writer as well as a music lover, words are incredibly important to me. Is that the case for you, too? Certain songs just can’t be played depending on the situation.
For example, listening to “Queen of Mean” from Descendants 3 when I’m angry is an especially bad idea. In the past, I noticed it only made the anger rise up more. By the way, no, I’m not bashing the movie or the song in any way. I’m just sharing something that I learned about myself when it comes to music. I’m also not calling any particular song good or bad, I’m only stressing its influence.
I think we forget sometimes how truly powerful music can be. No, this isn’t a lecture, just a dose of awareness for myself. Of course, if it gets you thinking, I’m fine with that, too. Music is a safe haven for me. I even mentioned in a previous post that I enjoy having it play while I work on story projects. At the end of the day, I hope we all listen to more music that encourages us and makes us happy!
